Further Exploration
Now that we've explored some different poetic forms, now is a great time to further explore poetry, specifically poetry in the performing arts! Performance poetry is one of the most effective forms to express emotion and motivation within a poem. As you watch the performers, pay attention to emphasis, body language, and rhythm of speech to fully understand what is being communicated in each piece. After watching each video, write down what you think is the purpose, motivation, and message of each performance, and what lead you to these conclusions. Also consider the word choice, and different rhetorical devices that may work towards achieving the goal of the performer.
